The Los Angeles City Council Race: The Race for the District

Voter guide to the L.A. City Council District 15 race: Tim McOsker vs Danielle Sandoval

With no Democrats running, the race to represent District 15 on the Los Angeles City Council is wide open, with as many as five candidates competing against each other.

To some Democrats, it’s an unusually important race for one of the most contested districts in the city, where the candidates might have to split the vote for victory.

In the race for Congress, there’s so much at stake that the battle over the district – one of the nation’s most conservative – has become so intense that Democrats have accused Republicans of being afraid of alienating Hispanic voters if they oppose Donald Trump.

For the record, Sandoval is a resident of San Pedro, and McOsker is a resident of Lynwood, while Republican incumbent Dana Beyer lives in nearby Alhambra.

The race to represent District 15 on the Los Angeles City Council has been very tight.

No Democrats are running in the race.

In the district, the Democratic Party is just over 40 percent of the vote. But that would still leave voters in the seat, which is in a heavily Republican area of the city, with some pretty tough competition for control of a city in a major Democratic stronghold.

Here are the important races today, and voter guide details below.
