Southern California braces for another September heat wave, thanks to a warm-up in the Pacific, a warming Arctic and rising temperatures in the desert. With air-conditioning temperatures in the low to mid-70s, as of Saturday, the heat can linger into early September, making it a hot and pleasant month for Southern California.

Here’s the latest information on heat alerts for Southern California. Keep in mind many of these may have been issued for the third or fourth time, for different reasons, over the last month and a half.

On Aug. 19, air-conditioning temperatures reached a high of 78 in the San Fernando Valley.

On Aug. 25, air-conditioning temperatures reached a high of 77 in the hills.

On Aug. 27, air-conditioning temperatures reached a high of 82 in the San Fernando Valley.

On Aug. 28, air-conditioning temperatures reached a high of 78 in the Santa Clarita Mountains.
