Biden falsely claims the most common gas price was over $5 when he took office (he was, in fact, over $4)
Here’s what he didn’t say: He never said the most common gas price was $4.
Biden claims the gas prices were higher under Obama than they were during his tenure as vice president (he was, in fact, during his tenure as VP over).
The truth is Biden’s claim is simply false.
Biden claims he had a strong relationship with the gas-price ‘cartel’ of powerful oil and gas companies:
Biden’s claim is simply false.
Biden’s gas-price claim is flat wrong. His claim was proven false after a thorough investigation by the Washington Post’s Fact Checker.
‘The oil companies were willing to give him millions of dollars in campaign contributions, but they refused to sell him the oil and gas leases that he wanted to buy with the money, according to interviews with people with direct knowledge of his relationship with the companies.’
This was a total lie told by Biden.
He said:
“The oil companies were willing to give him millions of dollars in campaign contributions, but they refused to sell him the oil and gas leases that he wanted to buy with the money, according to interviews with people with direct knowledge of his relationship with the companies.”
But oil companies aren’t supposed to refuse to sell Biden any oil leases.
For example, the Exxon Mobile stock price rose more than 200% during the 2012 presidential campaign.
Biden said the oil companies were willing to give him millions of dollars in campaign contributions.
He claimed they were willing to sell him the leases.
But they wouldn’t.
Biden only had the leases if they paid him $4. That’s right, only if they paid him $4.
“I did everything we needed to do to get the leases,” he said. “And I had a good relationship with some of the oil companies, good relationship with them and they decided to pay him $4. And I have got billions of dollars worth of oil leases.”
The lease price was $1. That’s
